Inception Movie Review
“If you can steal an idea from
someone’s mind, why can’t you plant one there instead?”

Inception is a 2010 sci-fi thriller film written, produced,
and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film’s main cast includes actors with
profound talent such as; Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt,
Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, Dileep Rao, Cillian Murphy, Tom
Berenger, and Michael Caine.
Inception
is a box office success having grossed $800 million worldwide—becoming the
45th-highest-grossing film of all time. The film won four Academy Awards for Best
Cinematography, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects.
And we are not surprised; Christopher Nolan has clearly proven himself worthy
of these awards.
Nolan
created a complex maze he calls a movie where he has led his audience through
massive twists and turns and left them breathless over the anticipation, the
converging of emotions, the reprised moments, and the action. This is a movie
that can either be told in a long array of words or not at all. This is a movie
you have to fully watch in order to understand.
The
film itself is a giant puzzle filled with millions of puzzle pieces a viewer
slowly solves as he reaches the end. And the moment he does, only then can he
step back to finally look at the big picture; the masterpiece Nolan has
wonderfully created.
Summary
Cobb
(Leonardo DiCaprio) and Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) are “extractors.” They earn
a living by stealing ideas, secrets, and thoughts from people’s subconscious by
infiltrating their minds through
shared-dreaming. One day, Cobb found himself offered a job to do the exact
opposite. Instead of stealing an idea, he was asked by Saito (Ken Wantanabe)—a
billionaire—to plant an idea in a person’s mind instead.
It
was not an easy task and Cobb admitted that it was almost impossible to do. But
why did he take the job anyway? One word: freedom. Cobb has a past he’s running
away from. For years he’s been desperately hiding and isn’t able to go back to
America because he was charged with murder. And since Saito promised him his
freedom from these said charges, Cobb accepted the job. He was willing to do
anything to get back to his children in America, even when he knew the job
could cost him his life.
As
the movie unfolds, we go in deeper into Cobb’s past, secrets, and the real story
why he couldn’t go home.
Review
The
movie is fast paced, action filled, and flawless in the way its mysteries were
pieced together as one big picture. Nolan managed to make a believable
science-fiction story and make it seem like reality, destroying the boundaries
of fiction all together.
The
effects, the cinematography, and the music were perfectly made and fit into the
film immaculately. It’s a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat and
doesn’t take you out of there until it’s finished.
The
actors were superb as well. They created the characters and have made viewers
love them as if they were real.
The
plot is original, mind boggling, and almost unbelievably fascinating especially
if you watch the film a second time. Nolan has left the viewers with no loopholes
and no second of boredom; the movie will take your breath away.
Nolan
created a world where imagination as well as danger had no limits. I applaud
this movie and recommend it to everyone. It’s a complete emotional
roller-coaster as well as an eye-opening experience. No one in this generation
and the next should miss this film, it is a masterpiece.
